Finding Community and Crafting Connections: My Visit to Made Me Mine Studio
I am still smiling thinking back on our recent visit to Made Me Mine Studio, and I am beyond excited to share that I will soon be hosting classes right there in their wonderful space!
From the moment I met the owner, we hit it off instantly. We have so much in common, especially a deep, shared love for spreading creativity and the joy of crafting. Finding fellow makers who believe in building a warm, welcoming community means the world to me, and I couldn't be more thrilled about our upcoming collaboration.
During our visit, my daughter and I had the absolute treat of participating in a Kinusaiga Workshop at the studio. If you've never tried it, Kinusaiga is a fascinating Japanese art form where beautiful fabrics are tucked into a carved foam board to create intricate pictures—without any sewing at all!
There were tons of gorgeous fabrics to choose from, which made designing our pieces so much fun. We also had the pleasure of meeting a couple of lovely ladies who are regular attendees at the studio, and they made us feel right at home.
While we got the hang of the technique fairly quickly, we quickly learned one golden rule: you have to be patient with the tool you use to tuck the fabric into the foam board—which is actually a seam ripper!
As someone who loves anything and everything to do with fiber arts, this was right up my alley. But what made it truly special was being able to share that creative space, laugh, and learn right alongside my daughter.
I am so inspired by the creative energy at Made Me Mine Studio, and I cannot wait to bring our own classes to their space soon. Stay tuned for details on upcoming workshops—we can't wait to create with you!
